Next steps

After the first composition, camera, and simple pipeline work, improve gradually.

Improve the composition

  • Refine scale using a known distance.
  • Rename areas so events and notifications are easy to understand.
  • Add missing walls only where they help orientation.
  • Replace rough tracing images if you find a better reference.
  • Add lightweight 3D models only where they improve recognition.

Add cameras carefully

  • Add one camera at a time.
  • Validate snapshot or stream access before creating pipelines.
  • Place each camera in the composition.
  • Review which areas it sees.
  • Avoid enabling many high-frequency flows at once.

Improve pipelines later

Once a simple pipeline works, you can explore:

  • better area filters;
  • object detection;
  • tracking;
  • stored images and retention;
  • Home Assistant notifications;
  • processing servers;
  • GPU acceleration on compatible hosts.

Do not add all of this at once. Each extra step makes troubleshooting harder.

Keep safety boundaries

Toposync is alpha software. Keep a manual fallback for cameras, notifications, gates, locks, lights, alarms, and automations.

Use Toposync to learn, visualize, and test workflows before depending on them.
