Three-dimensional view
The three-dimensional view helps you inspect a composition as a spatial scene.
Use it after the basic 2D structure exists, or when camera placement, models, and spatial context matter more than top-down editing.
What to use it for
The 3D view is useful for:
- checking whether walls, areas, and cameras feel spatially correct;
- placing lightweight 3D objects;
- understanding camera direction and coverage;
- reviewing Home Assistant entities in context;
- inspecting Spatial Camera Mapping and rendered camera views as those workflows mature.
Models should be lightweight
Toposync accepts lightweight GLB or GLTF models through the models workflow.
For the current product stage, prefer:
- low-poly models;
- small texture sizes;
- simplified furniture or object shapes;
- models that explain the space rather than decorate every detail.
Heavy models can make the browser slower and distract from the operational purpose of the composition.
2D and 3D work together
Use the 2D view for tracing and structure. Use the 3D view for spatial review.
If something looks wrong in 3D, usually fix the base position, scale, or wall layout in 2D first.
Alpha note
The 3D experience is active product work. Expect the mobile and TV app versions to rethink parts of the 3D interaction model over time.
